Afectus| Αφή: to feel, adfectus: emotions

Ava Collins decides to participate in a programme experimenting on emotions. Every participant is programmed to feel one singular emotion per day. They are then given a steady job, a house and are paired up into random couples and forced to live a 'normal' life in a neighborhood sealed off from the rest of society. Career, house, partner. Everything you want from life! Just as long as they only feel their assigned emotion. However, the programme is faulty; they are experimenting after all! People's emotions are returning and as a result, they suddenly disappear. When a shocking incident breaks the program's control over Ava, she must continue as normal to save herself. She is confident she can trick the system, yet a fellow participant, Daniel Harris, is quick to notice; having recently dominated his emotions. Being in charge of their emotions once more, they join forces in an attempt to escape. The growing urge to reveal their true feelings, to speak up in moments of passion and protect each other at all costs, complicates things as they try to battle the system. While falling in love in such a situation proves easy, they must learn to trust each other and put reason above passion.

It was not noticed exactly when people began to fall victim to the broken life of routine and monotony but by the time humanity realized that witnessing strong emotion triggered violence in the infected, it was too late... In a world, where showing emotion is a dangerous weakness, love becomes the only beacon of hope. Evelyn Li is not a fan of risk. Confined to the safety of an underground bunker for the past two years, when Evie stumbles upon a radio broadcast hosted by a mysterious boy with a sharp tongue and an impressive record collection, she's inspired to embark on a mission fuelled by the belief that her family might still be out there (and definitely not because she's desperate to finally meet the boy whose voice has been her sole companion since the darkness descended). Jonathan Johnson is not an optimist and definitely not a romantic. He wasn't at all surprised when the world ended or even when the Soulless took over the streets. With the weight of rising tensions in the colonies, an absentee father, and heart-breaking tragedy resting on his shoulders, Jonathan would much rather escape into his record collection and secret radio broadcast than deal with the general bleakness of life in the apocalypse. As he is reluctantly roped into Evie's search for links to her past, Jonathan begins to wonder if he can ever truly escape his. Together, the unlikely pair must navigate the treacherous landscapes of both the unforgiving world around them and the complicated emotions within. Will their connection withstand the trials of a world consumed by darkness, or will it become just another casualty of the apocalypse? - Wattpad @ScienceFiction "Ambassadors' Picks," July 2024 - Wattpad @ScienceFiction "18 SciFi Romance Stories We're Obsessed With," November 2024 - #4 Dystopian - #1 Cure

Love is about making sacrifices... Isn't that a little overrated? Love is about missing that particular person when he's not around, when you feel nervous, excitement and happiness all at the same time when he nears you, that was love for Jennifer. She waited for that person with bated breath. Her insides swirled around in utter bliss, not just chimpanzees but the whole damn zoo started waltzing in the pit of her stomach. She knew he was the one. Confessing wasn't a cakewalk but she felt love through his deeds, his touches and most of all, through his eyes. Rogan fell in love with the brown haired girl when he saw her for the first time. His heart soared with happiness when she called out his name. His joy knew no bounds when she became his first kiss, his first everything. Ever since he looked into her eyes, that green colour was his favourite. He knew he could get lost in those pair of emeralds. But then why did he choose not to look into them even once? Why did he ignore the girl of his dreams for days that felt like decades? Why did he hurt her when he had sworn to protect her from every danger? Jennifer was scared. She was completely oblivious to the fact that someone could control her emotions so easily. She felt she knew him from the inside out and she did. Her instincts incessantly told her that he was hiding something. This wasn't her Rogan. And she never lost hope. He would tell her the truth, eventually. But what she didn't expect was her strength to bear that truth. She was frail from the inside but put up a strong front for him. For she knew that their love was being tested. But what she didn't know were the results to that test. Would they come out of it, safe and sound or would she end up losing their togetherness forever?
