Violetta Emery has had the misfortune of experiencing many tragedies in her life. Because of that, she's lost hope in most things. But she does have two good things going for her: her dog Olive and her best friend Eleanor, the literal light of her life. Not that she'd ever admit that to her. Feelings and vulnerability are not something that comes easy to Violet, especially since she always feels like she's two breaths away from a panic attack. Therapy helps which she goes to frequently but it never feels like enough. Eleanor tries her best to be there for her but sometimes it feels like her efforts are futile. 

Will this friendship even last or will El finally have enough of Violet's quick trigger anger and drama? Will Violet ever get better or is she destined to live a miserable, lonely life?   

Enter Sebastián Everett, the new guy who no one seems to know anything about. Well nothing other than the fact that he transferred to Wilson High with his younger brother, Phoenix. And that he clearly only has eyes for Violet, not that her oblivious ass ever notices. 

Are Seb's feelings for Violet genuine or just a high school disaster? Will Violet even allow him anywhere near her or is this all just doomed from the start?
