One would never guess Samuel Clearstone to be anything more than a rich aristocrat in the Chicago area. A well tone body, one of the few prime pieces of land just outside the city proper and a very active sexual appetite that never seemed to be appeased. No one would ever expect that this active and eccentric male was the physical embodiment of one of the Seven Sins, let alone the Sin of Sloth. Every inch of that refined and energetic appearance stolen by every touch of the people around him whenever he craved to take from their lives. At least that was how it was until he found someone his lethargy causing flesh didn't affect.
Karen Hamilton was nothing but a young woman obsessed with ancient myths and legends. Colleges only interest for her was the classes on mythology that took all her time but for a full time job at a local cafe and lounge. A quiet girl but she was far from timid for a bookworm, she could never turn down the chance to hold an ancient tome or lost artifact but as she found herself face to face with not just a man but the physical form of a living myth she didn't know what to do. The form of Sloth standing before her and she couldn't keep her hands off of him, but what might be the price of her new found obsession?

A job that drains your soul, stripping away any will to live while fueling a more or less justified homicidal instinct; depression knocking at the door with a lovely bouquet of red roses; and, last but not least, the remnants of a social life buried somewhere under my shoes. Not the ones I'm wearing now; those are slippers, big difference. I mean the other ones. The ones in the cabinet that I haven't touched in five years. Love can be destructive. It catches you, ensnares you, devours you, and if you're unlucky enough, it leaves you standing in nothing but your underwear before reducing you to ashes. I had made peace with my "and she lived single, forever unhappy but safe" fate. A house, one, four, eight, maybe twenty cats-to meet expectations-and a future as flat as a heart monitor that's given up the ghost. No joys, minimal suffering, because there's only so much a heart can take before it calls it quits. And honestly? Fuck it, I'd been through enough. ... But he changed everything. In the worst, most terrifying way possible. From this abyss, I may never climb back out.
