Ashlaine Juliet Henderson is an average seventeen year old senior- that has faced tragedies more terrifying than nightmares, and been burned far too many times. Evading her past home after years of pleading, convincing, and suffering, Ash and her mother are newcomers in a place where everyone knows each other, and they're the talk of the town. Ash, looking for a fresh start to cope with her temporarily tamed grief, meets Shane due to a not-so-fortunate encounter.

Shane Octavius Matthews is a seventeen year old senior as well, dealing with his own grief in his own ways- channeling it to his unquenchable anger. Then Ashlaine comes crashing into his life, clashing into it in ways he does not understand. But he feels a connection with her, for they share a similar grief, but dealt with in different ways. Her unwillingness to communicate with the world in such a way, sparks a different flame within him, and he tries to break her shell without needing to tear down his hard earned one as well. And despite Shane's oblivion to it, he's spread his fire to her, too.

If ash and fire collide, would fire rewrite its ways for the sake of ash?

After all, fire is capable of more than just destruction.
