This story is about a seventeen year old girl, Charlotte. This girl constantly battles with her inner demons as well as the one who waits for her to come home from school, the one she calls Father. Following the loss of her mother, all things went to shit. This ray of sunshine is engulfed in darkness. Trapped in a labyrinth of abuse and pain. What happens when Ryan Spears takes interest in this tainted soul? Will it be another dead end in the maze of pain she so desperately wants to escape? Or will this arrogant bad boy bring out the brightness in this ray of sunshine? 


My six year old self grinned happily as the glorious beacons of sunlight danced through my bedroom window, casting blazes of light on to my cloud white carpet. "Mommy, Daddy look! The sun is in the sky again!" My innocent squeak sounded and my grin impossibly deepened as I looked over to my  parents standing in the doorway.

"That's right sweetie, the sun will always be there to brighten every day." My mother smiled down at me as my father nodded in agreement, displaying a similar warm smile. 

"You're our own personal ray of sunshine, Charlotte." My father said, offering out his large arms in hope to embrace me.


The suns rays of pure sincerity was enough to 
brighten up any day when I was little. When I was clueless. When I was foolish.  This ray of sunshine is tainted, I destroy everything I touch. You'll learn of this soon. Believe me.

She was neither in the popular group, nor one of the many cliched outsiders. Sarah was a nobody. She liked to blend in and lay low. It was her way out of not only this town, but her house. No one knew it, but her father was a high functioning alcoholic that often took his anger out on his family. With her older sister now in college, it had turned to her more often. Laying low in general was a good strategy. Across town, Ryan was prepping for his final year in high school. While he wasn't the stereotypical quarterback of the football team, he did fit into the popular crowd. His sports of choice included basketball and soccer, either of which might line him up for a scholarship next year. Ryan had a group of close friends and a lot of adoring acquaintances. It wasn't easy juggling his athletics and keeping the grades up, but he was just that good. The supporting parents didn't hurt either. It might be a cliché romance, but it will be fun to see what the year and beyond holds. ------------------------------------------ This is a story I wrote years ago, or at least partially wrote. As I transcribe it here, I have tried to update it a bit and give the characters/story more depth than what I had when I was younger. Hopefully it all gets pulled together!
