A short story based on a mixture of the traditional fairy tale of Cinderella with my own twist added, loosely inspired by the book 'The Thirteenth Tale'.
Cinderella's story is full of magic and pumpkins, glass slippers and convenient fairy godmothers - but what would have happened if there had never been a fairy godmother at all? If that evil step-family had kicked her out? What would have happened if she'd had to live by herself on the streets since she was eight years old? And most importantly - what would have happened without the fairy tale happy ending..?
------------------------
Once upon a time, a girl lived in a fairytale castle. Surrounded by her every desire. Once upon a time there were magic spells as rewards for simply 'being good'. Once upon a time there was a fairy godmother. But the rest of the time there simply wasn't.
This story is about one of the other times.
