Carlos' lips are only a few centimeters away from my own and all I want is for them to finally meet.
"Can't keep doing what," I ask, never moving my eyes from the lips in front of me. I watch as they open again.
"We can't keep hiding behind the bleachers and having your ace friend keep look out."

Jake Smith always knew what was expected of him: good grades, football, college, etc. And whenever he was in need of advice, he knew he could always ask his parents for their insight. And everything seemed to be going perfectly up until the second semester of his seventh grade year.
Now that he can no longer turn to the two people who he thought would support him through anything, Jake has to navigate his new relationship as well as deflect the prying questions from his teammates, peers, and parents.
