Amara and her sister Cindy, or rather Lucinda, have been running for a long time, running from the darkness, it has already caught up to them once, they lost a year of time, remembering nothing except the day before the big blank spot, when the darkness had finally caught up with them. 

They woke up a year later with new scars and a full body fear of the darkness, they've been on the run since, but the darkness is finally catching up with them again. Thankfully, a light shines in the darkness, a summons to the grand mystery school of the Zillah, these invites are non-negotiable, its either show up or be hunted and brought there. Forced to pick between two threats they chose the only one which doesn't send their bodies into full-blown panic, but maybe the darkness was always trying to keep them away from this school, or was the school safe from the darkness?
