For many long years, the Greenwood was a place of beauty. Until a sickness started to fester within the heart of the forest, a sickness that spread through the woods and brought darkness with it so black, it ate away all the light.

Slowly but surely, Idhren, the new captain of the guard and as loyal to the king as one can be, sees her beloved land and her beloved king fall victim to this darkness. Still, she does everything in her power to save whatever she can, finding herself in more and more dangerous situations. All to keep the darkness from fully taking her home, her king. But will she be able to fulfill her task before running out of time?

Because when darkness falls, there is no light that can save you.

The Elvenking is like a very strong, old tree, deeply rooted in the kingdom he pledged himself to protect. He also pledged himself to protect his heart from love, out of fear that it might weaken him, but that proved to be disastrous. Love... what daunting word rubbed in his face by that fearless redhead elleth during the battle in Dale. Is there any love left in him? Follows what happens with Thranduil and Tauriel after BOTFA, during the War of the Ring and further into the 4th Age. Mainly from Thranduil's POV and including canon events that are only briefly mentioned in the books. I try to respect the lore as much as I can. Apart from the romance, I wanted to explore Thranduil's character based on what we know about his life. Feedback and comments are much appreciated :) "His words were unforgiving again, hiding under the same cold tone he had for centuries, yet he could not believe them himself anymore. Tauriel was looking at him, her gaze seemingly piercing through his soul. His dream to restore Mirkwood to Greenwood and his thoughts of avenging his beloved wife were contradicting everything he said. He did not want to care yet every fibre of his being cared too much." "There was something else that Thranduil noticed in Celeborn's eyes: a combination of respect and admiration. 'You are strong, Thranduil. You are like one of the old Mirkwood trees, deeply rooted in the earth, that the centuries cannot wither. I always thought that, no matter what evil lies upon Arda, you will endure.' 16 parts Complete

An account of the last days of the ElvenQueen. Lairiel of Lorien was a Telerian elleth, and guardian of the Valar's creation. A chance encounter, on a political exchange to Greenwood, has her fate entwined with that of the Great Forest - she chose Oropher's son. She is Thranduil's most beloved treasure, and the light of the people she so readily embraced. But, as Greenwood falls into darkness even the King and his Queen are not immune to the evil of Sauron. ***Note: I wrote this story ten years ago, and I'm keeping it very much to its original form and plot. Therefore this is not a Gundabad story, nor a dragon fire plot. It is not influenced by the hobbit movies. It was how I imagined the tragedy of the ElvenKing, and was my very first fanfiction*** ***Disclaimer: All recognisable characters belong to the master Tolkien. Without him we would never have had such wonderful freedom of imagination. Lairiel and Ellenya are my own beloved OCs, their stories do belong entirely to me.***
