Together the pair travel on an expedition with a small military escort, other science nerds, and other miscellaneous sorts. Their mission for their boss with deep pockets? To explore an ancient, abandoned planet for potential human colonization. However, they soon realize the planet is not as abandoned as it seems, as they begin to fall victim to parasitic serpent-like aliens. But wait, there's more.
