Wartime journalist, Lauren Bello, heads to war to escape her famous father's overpowering shadow but discovers war to be the hell he had always warned her about. It's 2017, Lauren has spent almost ten years covering war and running away from her past in Eden, Illinois. With her father gone and her inheritance spent, she has no choice but to return to Eden to sell the only thing she has left: her childhood home. The money from the sale will allow her to remain in Iraq to finish writing a story that will finally forge her own destiny. Before she heads back, she must help remodel the house as part of the sale. She works alongside Captain Rick Pruitt, a Marine Veteran with a disdain for civilian journalists. Can Lauren hold up to her part of the deal or will she run from it like she runs from everything else?

𝐀 𝐖𝐀𝐑𝐅𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐒𝐇𝐎𝐑𝐓 𝐒𝐓𝐎𝐑𝐘 When a Navy SEAL mission in Iraq goes tragically wrong, Chief Sam Lawson is left shattered-his body broken, his future uncertain. Sent home with injuries no one expected him to survive, Sam is forced to face a new kind of war: recovery. At home, his wife Allie becomes the anchor to a life neither of them recognize. She's holding up a household, raising their daughter, and caring for the man she almost lost-physically, emotionally, and in every way that matters. Healing isn't neat. It's messy, brutal, and painfully slow. There are nightmares, hospital beds, slammed doors, and more than a few moments when love has to be louder than the fear. But there are also sidewalk chalk drawings, late-night kitchen dancing, and second chances whispered in the dark. This isn't a love story that ends with a goodbye kiss. It's one that begins when everything else falls apart-and they choose each other anyway. _______________________________________ This story is inspired by the real-life strength of Navy SEAL Joseph Hildebrand, whose journey shaped Sam's character in every way that counts. Allie and the children are based on people I've personally witnessed walking through fire and choosing love again. I do not own the rights to any characters from Warfare.
