In the broken year of 3027, the world is falling apart. Global warming has finally destroyed most of the crops and killed most of the animals. The world has gone insane, desperation and starvation tearing away their sanity. People are going crazy, doing things they wouldn't otherwise do. Bombing countries. Killing each other. Stealing food from where ever they can.
Laws are just ghosts of something once enforced, now dismissed.
Anya Perez, age seventeen lost her parents to The Wave- the year 3025 when a horrific heat wave destroyed nearly all the crops and any living thing that couldn't take shelter from it. She's been alone for two years miraculously surviving on wits, strength, and any food she could salvage.
Hidden is key, because in a world built on desperation, anything could happen to anyone.
And then it does. Because now what's left of the president Jonathon Amber has created a contest. Anyone is qualified. The first to venture out and discover a sustainable source of food wins all the riches and luxury they could ask for. Anya considers this great news, and opportunity, and ventures out. What she didn't realize she signed up for was that all the other contestants are more than willing to kill everyone for a chance at endless luxury.
It's a race filled with possible death and an uncertain end.
