Cassidy Ford dated Tristan McCauley for only four months in her sophomore year.
People had thought they were the perfect couple and had frowned down upon her when she'd ended it, but they didn't know what behavior he'd exhibited in their brief period together. Now as a junior, she is hoping to start her love-life anew, but her persistent ex is not making it an easy accomplishment. He'd scared off any boy that had come close and had been a serious pain with his deranged views of his love for her.
However, when the ever-frustrating Hale Lockley comes onto the scene with some weird stalker tendencies and cryptic explanations as to why he's around her all the time, he isn't deterred by her ex's threats. Cassie doesn't know why he insists on being around her so much, but her suspicion slowly fades as she realizes that the more he is with her, the stronger she starts to suspect her feelings towards him growing.
She isn't the only one who notices. The more time she spends with Hale, the more persistent Tristan becomes. Whereas he started out as just a nuisance, his aggressive and controlling nature takes him to dangerous new levels for both Hale and Cassie.
Her life begins a slow snowball downhill, and soon it had to hit the bottom.
