She married him on the day she became a 15-year old to be his Crown Princess. Too bad, she is not the one that he favours. She accepted it with an open arm. Living in the Crown Prince's palace is not much of a difference as living in the Prime Minister's manor. In both places, her existence means nothing. She was ignored and left to fend for herself most of the times. 

She is lucky that his father's concubine never treated her unfairly nor did her half-siblings ever treated her cruelly but, they chose not to be around her as much as she wanted too. Why? Her father. Her father hated it when anyone trying to be close with her so they never did try to interact with her. She grew up in a lonely environment with no one to talk too so she drowns herself in reading and calligraphy on a daily basis. Once in a while, she played quzheng when her father was not around the manor. All in all, though her existence has been ignored by her father, she never lacked anything (other than, love and companionship) while she was there. 

It is a different matter once she entered the Crown Prince' s palace. There, her husband ignored from the very first day. She then have to face her husband's favoured one, Consort Jing Duji whom viewed her as an enemy. It gets worse once he became the Emperor. She has became the Empress, a powerless and good-for-nothing Empress whom living a reclusive life inside her own 'cold palace'.

Her days passed by rather peacefully until one day where everything will change forever. Things will never be the same and she will never again be the same person.
