It started with the Protector, who turned on the ARMY and slew his predecessor, the Snake. Following a plan set into place long before her death and re-awakening, the Soldier fled and joined the opposing side as well. The Support fell on a mission mostly completed, and out of his death rose the Dark One to take revenge and finish the job.

The story of five Case Studies within Project Alation. An off-the-books, unethical, secretive collaboration between a large network of underground scientists, and a few key Officers and Officials within the ARMY. Together, they are looking into the genetic manipulation of humans in the pursuit of a super-soldier with more than just enhanced strength and speed, but one that would be as comfortable in the air as humans naturally are on the ground.
