I could barely breath seeing you die in front of me. And I couldn't do anything. I didn't even cry, I just couldn't. If you die, I wanted to die to, you where the only bright side in my life.

It was an ordinary morning, sunny and cold in a fall kind of way. Girls were walking around in yoga pants and infinity scarves that swallowed up their necks, giggling with their boyfriends in the hallways of the school or reading. Except for her. She was holed up in the band room, playing as though her life depended on it. The notes rang out from our school's second rate piano, not always perfectly clear, but she made them beautiful. The piece went on, full of purpose and brisk. I couldn't help but stop to listen. To me she was already no ordinary girl. I knew I'd get my heart broken. I knew we'd spend days lying in the sun, having pillow fights or writing music together. I knew she was always meant for more then some little town in Ohio. But I knew she was worth it. Because I was acutely aware that my life changed that day. For good.
