You've heard or read of the cliche Nerd and Mr. Popular, Geek and Bad Boy, Outcast and Gangster, Cheerleader and Quarterback. You know their stories and how they fell in love.
Well, I'm here to tell you, that it doesn't happen in real life--well at least, barely.
You've read the story of the girl who captured Mr. Bad Boy's attention.
You've read the perspective of the cheerleader whose boyfriend was stolen by a new girl or nerd.
You might have also read the leading male character's perspective.
If it does happen- when they fall in love- and the story ends, I'm saying there's a reason the story ended because eventually, things do not go the way it was planned. The bad boy gets over the new girl. The Quarterback gets tired of the nerd. The cheerleader finds someone better. End of that story.
But now, you will be reading my story, my point of view. Have you ever heard from the Queen B's sidekick--or minion I guess? Have you ever wondered what happened to them and such? Were you ever even concerned about the minion? Probably not, huh?
I am the sidekick, the minion, the follower, the fake friend, and whatever the hell people call me in their love story and here is my story.
Read my story and see what really happened.
"I love how this book is turning out!😍 Not cliche at all!" - i_hatecliche
"We might live next door to each other," Haley said, "but we don't live in the same world."
Hooking her fingers around her backpack straps, she walked away from Jace. She had barely gone a few steps before he was at her side again.
"What makes you believe we don't live in the same world?" he asked. "As far as I can tell, we do."
"No, we don't. I'm...me and you're Jace Cortez. The dream of every girl. The friend to every guy. The star of the school. Girls. Sports. You're the ultimate player."
"It sounds like you have a preconceived notion of who I am."
"And it's one that has yet to be proven wrong."
From books and a lifetime of sitting on the sidelines, Haley is convinced she knows how the world works, specifically high school. Everyone has a label and a box they fit in.
This knowledge, paired with parents who are fighting, a brother leaving soon for college and a best friend who moved away has made her decide to never get involved.
It will take being forced to work with her fellow juniors on a project, a boy next door with a infectious smile, a star gazer with an adorable puppy, and an unlikely pair of fangirls to make her see how truly wrong she was about everything.
