Everyone thinks having superpowers and being a hero would be the best thing to ever happen to them. Lemme tell ya, it's not; well, at least not alone that is. Every single hero movie ever made, the protagonist has at least one person helping them. Me, on the other hand, I've got no one. I live alone, all my friends and family are on the other side of the country, and I'm pretty sure everyone at my college hates me. I guess it's not that bad, I mean, it's at least 60% easier to not have someone bad figure out your secret identity. So yeah... I know it's not like an epic, tragic backstory where my family dies and I use my powers to avenge them and destroy whoever killed them but hey, I'm interesting. And you don't even know my superpowers yet.

I'm not like wonder woman, supergirl or catwoman. The only similarity we share is that we all have an extraordinary ability and are females. Many people would say having superpowers was a gift from god and the best thing that could ever happen to you. The curtain around the hospital bed slides open to reveal an African American man with warm eyes. He walks in with an easy smile and a white man steps in just behind him with dark blue eyes and near black brown waves that fall to his shoulders. The man behind him catches my eye, his eyes a bright blue with a crown of golden hair. Our eyes meet and his crystal blue ones widen. Déjà vu hits me like a truck and my mind bounces back to a fuzzy night a couple of months ago full of hard liquor. While I can't remember many things from that night, I do remember those blue eyes vividly. My lips pop open and a blush tints my cheeks as well as his. Oh, Jesus, I had a one-night stand with Captain America. Reagan Monroe was born with a gift she never wanted and hates to use now. She's isolated herself, but since life is relatively shit, trouble still manages to find her. After defending a kid from some goons, a certain group of superheroes finds her and it turns out she already knows one of them. Running. Ugh. How long have I been running? My small hands shove people out of the way the best I can but I'm mostly just twisting and turning through the crowds. Trapped in my Worst Novel
Protagonists, the most important characters in stories. They're the ones that are supposed to save the world and be a symbol of hope for humanity, the ones that can defeat anything in their way if they want to, the ones whom the reader wants to win and succeed... ...Well atleast thats how a good heroic protagonist should be. I wrote three novels after dropping out of college at 20 years old. My first novel was a disaster, boring characters, recycled plot, and a protagonist so rude even I wanted to punch them. The next two? Absolutely amazing and really well-liked. I was ready to quit writing for good when i suddenly got hit by a car and woke up in someone else's body, someone i don't recognize at all, who goes to the exact same school from my first novel. Yeah. That happened, i'm screwed. Great. Now I'm stuck in a world full of arrogant, clueless students. Why couldn't i have entered one of my better stories?! And if that's not enough, the soul of this body won't stop yelling at me to "give their body back", as if i could do that, while a tiny version of them sits on my left shoulder and a tiny version of my 19 year old self from my past life rides the right shoulder. What even is happening anymore? Sigh...
