Nixies, kelpies, mermaids, & selkies

The 4 were the first to meet another from a different marine tribe, Nixies are water spirits, or fairies, that keep the place they call home, safe and protected, they are shy creatures, although their spirits and/or fairies, some do contain what appears to be the tail of a creature of water, not always marine.

Kelpies are shape-shifting water spirits. It has usually been described as appearing as a horse, but is able to adopt human form. Some accounts state that the kelpie retains its hooves when appearing as a human, but despite there appearance they are friendly and kind people.

Mermaids/mermen are aquatic creature with the head and upper body of a human and the tail of a fish. Mermaids/Mermen are sometimes associated with perilous events such as floods, storms, shipwrecks, and drownings due to there singing, they can be benevolent or beneficent, bestowing boons or falling in love with humans.

Selkies only come on land every 7 years to dance, before returning back to the sea, in the body of a seel, they have a white coat in human form, in wich they call their skin, without the coat, they cannot return to the ocean as a seel, leaving them tied to the earth, but seeing as the ocean is their true love, they will always love the ocean, more than anything, and will eventually die of heart brake, if left tied to the shores for too long. Legends speek of sailors who steel their coats, and force them to be their wives, and say they do make excellent wives, but their love will always be the ocean, usually, when given the chance, will steal their skin back, and return to the ocean, where a male selkie awaits his love. They are also considered mer people.

These 4 teens are different species, but will come together to discover the wonders of the ocean, and who's to say they don't take a trip on land, to see what secrets the marine tribes, kept hidden from Society on the markings of land.
