I felt someone harshly grab my waist and pull me up and I complied. They dragged me down the alley and into the busy street. Additionally Avery breaks down, revealing dark secrets he had kept for years. Suddenly the simplicity of his former life is destroyed and every day could mean the end of him. This is a fantasy story taking place in medieval times. There are elements of dark romance to be found. This story includes descriptions of death, gore and mutilation as well as a little bit of drug abuse. The story takes place in a medieval setting, so themes such as sexism, execution, arranged marriages, implied incest and war can be found. Characters go through phases with anxiety, depression and suicidal thoughts. There are vague recounts of voluntary intercourse but implied rape as well. One consensual scene is written out but there will be a warning. "Diary of the Dead" is part of a three part series. This is the first book. I'm currently working on the second/ third (depending on the order one wants to read it). The chapters are comparably short and the language is easy because I'm German and English is my second language.
