Hayes and Shay are African-American twins. Their mother has been cheating on their dad for months now with the dean from the college two hours away. Shay tells her father in her letters to him.
Shay never sent them but she told him. When their father finds out, he files a divorce making the summer of 2018, the last summer that the twins will have in Kimberly.
