One Foot in the Shadows

The Empire covers a large amount of the Known World and it maintains control through fear. As well as a regular, it has a notorious group of elite soldiers, trained as spies and assassins that have earned the nickname The Empire's Wolves. When a message is intercepted from a neighboring power that reveals the intention to invade some of the Empire lands, five young servants of the Empire are sent to eliminate the problem.

Known to be the unscrupulous secret service of Lian, the Dark Watch has its own type of infamy, but it is nevertheless horrified when it learns of the king's plan to challenge the Empire. Fearing swift and brutal reprisals, a network of agents prepare to fight back and cut off the head of the advance party sent by their hated enemy. Literally.
