For Yeji, home wasn't the four walls where she grew up in. For her, it was those luminous eyes and that heartbeat, until one day it wasn't.

"I hate you," I say as I stare at the ground, my hands trembling by my side, "No, I hate myself because I don't hate you."

"I'm sorry," He pleads as he takes a step towards me but I raise my hand to stop him.

"You were my home," I tell him timidly, "A home is where you can return to but when I turned around, you weren't there."

"You don't love me, you can't love me." My body shakes uncontrollably as I fall to the ground, sobbing into my hands as I try to muffle the sound desperately. "Just let me love you, I can't love you if you won't allow me to idiot," a whisper echoes through the walls as he squats down next to me, placing his hand on my back, rubbing, small, reassuring circles. ... It was never supposed to be like this, why did I let this happen? Hyunjin and Y/n lived in the same neighborhood. They were best friends for the longest time until Y/n was forced to move schools right before high school. Four years have gone by and Y/n grew a new persona. She doesn't smile anymore like she used to, she doesn't wear her hair in pigtails, and she doesn't wear those big, round, glasses everyone used to make fun of her for. When she moved her parents took away all forms of communication from her, thinking that she didn't deserve the love and care she was getting. She managed to keep in contact with one friend because their parents were friends, but she lost all contact with Hyunjin. She felt horrible for it, she cared about him the most and never got to say goodbye like she planned. After her parents kick her out to go live with her grandparents, she moves back to her hometown hoping that no one will recognize her. Hyunjin felt betrayed when Y/n left, she left without a goodbye and didn't speak a single word to him in the past four years. Without her around, he grew close to Chan's group of friends. The summer before high school started, Hyunjin and his friends matured and all the girls in school found them attractive. They fought for the boys attention but Hyunjin only thought of Y/n regardless of all the pining girls. He hated that she constantly ran through his mind, wishing he could just forget about her. As everyone walks into their 4th period, two people catch each other's gaze. One feels guilt bubble up in their stomach and the other boils with resentment.

Being equally important, my mother had a mother to mother talk with our neighbour, asking as politely as she possibly could to babysit me - but I wouldn't exactly call it babysitting if my mom specifically asks that I only stay over to study for as long as I want; no food included, no relaxation breaks, nothing except studying. In other words my mother asked if I could use their house as a study spot when she and my dad argue. Having explained it to our neighbour, she willing and wholeheartedly accepted, and with that she offered if I could sometimes stay for dinner, but my mother declined. Repeatedly emphasizing on the 'study only'. So, already being agreed, our neighbour noted how she had a son who's three years older than me, which did not bother my mother - but it bothered me. It did bother me before I started studying there. I was practically invisible to the sixteen year old boy who never glanced my way, not even once. He was smart, according to his mother who would help me with something I was bad at, but he was very much a problematic child. Although, to me he was just a nice boy, with a phone in his hand, always walking from his room to the kitchen, and never saying hello to me. It would be an understatement if I said he didn't know I existed, because he did know I existed and that I came to study at his house everyday, he just never took it in his interest to look at me when I looked at him. And that's how I grew up. Having two homes. The one I wake up in, sleep in, eat in, bath in and the one I study in - also known as the house I met my first crush Taeil. Taeil, who didn't bother noticing me but allowed me to notice him everyday of the week, month, year, up to a decade - excluding family outings and outings similar to that. In conclusion, I basically watched him grow up. Grow up into the drug and alcoholic, sex in love man he is. Copyrights © Dzzuling_Min
