In the 1860s as the Civil War was being fought, fifteen year old Emmeline Rogers moved in with the Laurence's, family friends of her grandparents, after her parents and grandparents had died. She quickly became close friends with Mr. Laurence's grandson, Theodore Laurence, who was the same age as her. Emmeline quickly developed a crush on Theodore, and he quickly began to fall for her. When the two friends go to a New Year's Eve party, they meet two of their neighbors: Jo and Meg March. Theodore ended up taking a liking to Jo and buried his romantic feelings for Emmeline deep down after he saw Emmeline talking with another boy and began to pursue Jo. What will happen to Theodore and Emmeline's friendship? Will the two ever admit their feelings for each other?
