Lucy, also known as Kaleidoscope, has been out of missions for a few months due to what her fellow avengers refer to as her 'condition.' When Thor's adoptive brother Loki is banished from Asgard to Earth, S.H.I.E.L.D decides to take Loki in, in exchange for his loyalty to them to make up for his actions during the Battle of New York. 
Perhaps the girl with kaleidoscope eyes is just what Loki needs, and vice versa.
