"You left me here alone... can't you see I'm almost blind now?" she said, frustration lacing her voice. Still, no response. "Are you even listening to me? He could be here any time, and I'm not ready yet. What will he say after seeing me like this?" she kept blabbering. She paused, startled by a deep chuckle. Her breath hitched.
