Second book in the Trust Me trilogy. (This description is a spoiler if you haven't read the entirety of Trust Me yet)

After finding out about the plot for her murder and that her boyfriend is really a fallen angel, Ash Mara feels as if her mind is unraveling. There are so many questions left unanswered, so many things that make her feel less than out of control of her life, and so much driving her insane. She's not sure she's able to handle it.

Aidan is determined to prove that Samantha, Evan, and Lexa have the wrong girl. He's positive that Ash isn't who they think she is, which is why he takes Ash with him on a road trip to find her father. Something in her family's past will determine her future, and whether or not it will cease to exist.

Safety is still out of reach with attacks on her life coming at every angle, threatening to stop her before she can even defend herself. It's all too much for her to handle--the rules keeping her and Aidan apart, the murder attempts, the mind games--to the point where she's not sure she wants any of it anymore. And once a very important trust is broken, she's left wide open and vulnerable, with protection being the last thing she's capable of.

Yet, danger lurks as Adrian's enemies close in. Ni must decide if she can truly trust Adrian or if their love is doomed from the start. In the Novel Redemption the main character Emma Ames finds herself unable to outrun the mysterious death of her father Matthew. When her mother Beth's questionable mental illness takes a turn she decides to tell Emma the truth. "They knew we were going to take you. I had to wait, make them feel secure again. Make them think it was all Matthew. I waited them out letting them think you were theirs. Until that night Emma, that night we ran away. You were finally free. Free to grow, and be your own person. Your own problem", her mother smiled at her through the tears. Emma responded "Mom what are you talking about I've always loved you". Beth hushed Emma, "but I'm not your mother, and Matt was not your father". Emma wouldn't hear it "Mom stop I always knew deep down I was adopted. It's okay you are still my parents." Beth needed to tell her the whole truth "Emma, you were not adopted you were given to us. Matthew and I were to raise you, and then give you back". Emma cut her off "What are you talking about mom? Stop talking this way. It's just the medications you're on. We'll talk later when your better and have had time to rest". Beth wouldn't rest "No, listen to me we don't have time. Don't trust them. Don't trust any of them". As the story unfolds Emma is faced with the death of her mother Beth. An unknown Uncle James steps up to offer his support to his now destitute niece per the request of his distant sister. Emma, following the wishes of her deceased mother, agrees to follow James back to their family's home town of Linden, Michigan. Beth's dyeing words haunt Emma as she struggles to adapt to her new surroundings. The reappearance of a man she had met in a brief kiss between strangers takes Emma off guard.
