Guiada por um espírito maligno, Célia desenvolveu diversas atividades de magias ocultas, sempre utilizando-se de crianças e dos sapos que infestavam a região na qual ela residia, conhecida por Sapolândia.
Além da bruxa e do gato, o livro traz ainda as presenças marcantes de diversos personagens muito bem elaborados pelo autor, como Doralice, Ladim, o gigante José Rosa entre outros.
Porém, a condução da história se dá através de Sofia, um ser especial e indefinido, uma essência do bem ou do mal, ou ainda o equilíbrio entre essas duas vertentes humanas.
Dividido em diversos capítulos curtos, a narrativa prende, surpreende e envolve o leitor do começo ao fim.
