Treat others the way you want to be treated. That was the number one rule, the golden rule. It was the most important thing. It always had been. Ever since Patton was old enough to understand, that was what everyone told him. So, that's what he did. The feeling wasn't always reciprocated. Apparently, the world that told him to care about others before himself... didn't think of Patton either. So if Patton wasn't thinking of Patton... and the world wasn't thinking of Patton... who was thinking of Patton? The answer became quite clear to him as he stared down into the watery depths below him. No one was thinking of Patton.
** AU where the Sides are roommates...  mostly Patton-Centric but there's a lot of shippy stuff, fluff, and funsies in there for all the characters! Not to mention heavy angst... In his eyes, the soulmate system was the best thing to happen to him, so the fact that the words written on his collarbone were 'go away' really burst his bubble. The thought of spending his life with his 'other half' was enthralling to him, but the fact his dad expected him to settle down with a nice girl was terrifying. Deceit is unpopular in highschool, as others find him ugly with his snake-like burn, he is depressed and self harms, he has a crush on one of the most popular kids, Logan, they meet in a class and try to become friends, but Logan's friends, Patton, Roman, Virgil, try to push them further apart. Edit- 06/02/21 this was one of the first things I tried to properly write, it isn't that great but it does show how much I've improved and I find that cool now that I've gotten over most of my embarrassment about it.
