In the Kingdom of Venerie, magic was not a common thing to be found. In their neighbouring Kingdoms, it might be welcome, but not here. In Venerie, it was forbidden to perform any kind of sorcery, as the last act created the vanishing. 

A mysterious curse that takes random citizens of the land, a moment from which none had ever returned. Nobody truly knew what, or who created this event, just that they never could know who was next. Many advisors and analysts had studied the event but none could quite crack the mystery.  

Many suspected the work of faeries, while others believed it was the King of Gavolon, a neighbouring land, with a ruler feared for his ruthless assassins. But as centuries passed, the vanishing became a part of the peoples' lifestyle. An unpleasant, but common occurrence. Or at least it was until a girl who seemed to slip too far into the shadows discovers a world she was not supposed to...
