For once, he felt genuinely happy. Things seemed to be fitting into place. He had awesome friends, college, and his first apartment to look forward to. Sophomore year was the year Frank's life as he knew it fell apart, all because of one older boy. But he knew better now, he really did. Nothing like that was going to happen again. He wouldn't ever be treated like that again. Frank has new confidence, a new life. Will the tidal waves pull him back again, or will he continue to hold his head up high?

Gerard claimed to be as straight as a crowbar (wait... that's straight right?) and totally didn't have the hots for Frank. For gods sake, Frank was his bandmate, one of his best friends! Highschool is a living hell. At least that's Gerard's opinion because he can't pass the hallways without being shoved against lockers or called a "fag". God, how Gerard hated this word. In his last year of school, he decides to take a risk and starts a school project in which he wants to find out why all of his teachers and classmates hate homosexual people so much. For his project "homophobia is gay" he interviews a few people but decides that this won't be enough. What if he could introduce one of them to his world and show them that it's not bad to be gay? Frank mostly spends his days depressed and alone. The occasional hurtful remarks from his fellow classmates and father wearing him down. Frank's family issues seem to swallow him hole which is mainly why he feels like throwing in the towel... permanently. Gerard lives to protect those he cares about. Though, he has a bit of an edgy attitude most people learn to respect. There's more to Gerard than what the outside shows. His brother Mikey and best friend Ray know glimpses of how he really feels, and how complications from the past really fuck with his behavior. But, their differences don't keep them apart considering these strangers are forced into each other's lives when Gerard finds Frank attempting to commit suicide. Gerard was 6 years younger but the pair grew up next door neighbors with a fairytale story of falling in love.
