Mia Peterson was never as smart as her over-achieving identical twin sister, Evelyn. Although they loved each other more than anything, it wasn't easy for Mia being hated on and constantly compared to Evelyn by everyone her whole life. And it killed Evelyn just as much to watch her sister go through that.

One day, on their thirteenth birthday, Evelyn went missing. But instead of reporting Evelyn as missing, Mia was reported instead. That same day, her mother told Mia that she needs to pretend to be Evelyn, and nobody can ever find out her real identity. Even her father.
