Beneath our depths

His touch felt light against Iliyan's hand, as if the man in front of him didn't even exist. A ghost of a kiss lay its sweet nectar against the king's forehead, making tears well up in his eyes as his gaze lifted to meet Víalen's. For a second, he felt as if a blanket of silence had fallen over the both, enveloping them before they could even move. Iliyan wanted nothing more then to reach out for the other male, to hold his face between these hands he called his own.

Did it really matter about pain in this instance? Could he be selfish enough to ruin who claimed to love him? Alas, no matter what he wanted to do, Iliyan couldn't bring himself to hurt Víalen. He'd rather perish by the hands of his kingdom then be the reason behind the other king's tears. In the darkness, he could hear the hum of the castle just as Víalen pressed their forehead's together.

"In the light, when we're awake. No matter what happens, I will find my way back to you"

And that was the promise that was made that day, unknown to the fact that a few spilt words wouldn't make up for the wounds they'd soon leave behind.
