As the last grain of ebony sand fell, he felt as though there was a clap of thunder inside of his chest. His lungs were of stone. Clawing at his tunic, he fell to his knees. He collapsed onto the forest floor with an empty thud. The woman with the hourglass was nowhere to be seen.
