"Just tell me already!", he says impatiently though still with a smile. "Fine!", I mutter irritated. "They did a bet over when we were getting back together." As soon as I say that I question why on earth I didn't lie, then again, Oscar knows when I'm lying and when I'm not. His smile disappears and his gaze darkens. "When are we getting back together, Cat?", he asks in a hard voice. I look away not wanting to meet is accusing eyes. "Oscar...", I protest but he cuts me off. "No, listen to me. You think you can just do this, don't you? You think that you can say we're over just like that but 'oh, wait, we can still be friends', don't you, Cat?", he says bitterly. "That everything will be as it was", he mutters at the end. I look down in shame. "We can stop talking if you want", I say shyly, tears threatening to make an appearance. "You know that's not what I mean", he sighs and his expression softens. "You wanted time, I just want to know how much longer I have to wait", he says and I look up, meeting his sorry puppy eyes, "and for you not to act like everything is ok, like you didn't practically break my heart", he says, and I know he regrets saying those painful last words, but they're true. Cat is a nineteen years old cat mutant, stubborn, natural hunter and cold headed with occasional savage out bursts about which little is known. Oscar is a nineteen years old werewolf, with a kind heart and calm who is crazy in love with a green eyed feline, or so he thinks. They both live in a small community composed of other mutants where everyone is at peace and everyone knows their role. Will this peace stay the same when the past of these two, full of secrets and lies, comes back from painful scars?
