Emery is dead. He has been dead for 17 years now. And with being both friendless and an orphan comes the unfortunate feeling of loneliness. Even in the afterlife. Until one day he comes across a boy, who seems strangely facinating. Soon Emery finds himself observing this particular boy so often that the feelings of facination gradually turns into something different. something stronger.

Matthew Wilson has it all, or so it seems. His parents won't speak to each other, or even look at at one another. His older brother is rarely at home, and even if he was, Matthew wouldn't know what to say to him. Even his friends feel like strangers; he can count on one hand how many meaningful conversations he's had with them. He simply wants somebody, anybody, to see him, not just look at the average, semi-popular footballplayer he seems to be to everyone else.
