The words flow out like he's said them once before. I purse my lips at the distant flattery, but I absorb the threat. He's about to bring me trouble. My numb butt, however, remains on the frozen metal of the bench. I'm tired of running.

His slow approach halts and the silence is agonizing. He reminds me of the other men who've hurt me. They fed off of my fear, thrived on my weaknesses, and danced to my pleas and begs. I knew of pain in unforgivable ways that people like him inflicted.

"ℑ 𝔠𝔞𝔫 𝔭𝔯𝔬𝔱𝔢𝔠𝔱 𝔶𝔬𝔲 𝔣𝔯𝔬𝔪 𝔥𝔦𝔪."

My breath hitches but I quickly disguise my alarm. His tone was haunting. As if he knew something he shouldn't. I won't satisfy his urge to see me squirm.
