It's the year 2104. America has been split up by the Rocky mountains. West of the mountains is Conza. A place where your future is chosen for you once you turn seventeen. James just turned sixteen. With there being no school in his town anymore, he has plenty of time to plan an escape to freedom that his dad had talked about before his death. James's goal is to make it to the other side of the mountains with his friends and start a life there. But soon people find out about his plan and it becomes more and more important that he leaves.

The Virus was a terrible disease that killed most of the world's population. It ate away at your body from the inside out, and there was nothing anyone could do. Until you completely disappeared. You were literally eaten alive; bone and all. Jason was one of the few who didn't catch The Virus, along with his sister Maria. They have to battle the elements, Half-lings, other survivors, and themselves just to stay alive. What happens when Maria is captured by a group of Half-lings, and taken away from her brother?
