Clarissa Morgenstern lives with her parents, Valentine Morgenstern and Joyclen and also her older brother Jonathan in the institute in Scotland. Her parents run the institute. Well they did until her mum left when Clarissa was only ten, now her dad runs it by himself and is one of the most feared shadowhunters ever. Nobody knew where Joyclen was going nor could anyone find her. Years later Clarissa is now seventeen and has found out where her mum is but hasn't told anybody that or the fact that she is going to see her.

But will Joyclen be pleased to see the daughter she abandoned when she just was kid or will she turn a blind eye?
