Short stories inspired by or taken from my debut novel, "18", centered around the protagonist, Menelik.
Menelik is a seventeen-year-old black male living in Georgetown, South Carolina. Set over the summer, the story follows Menelik from the last week of May to the first week of August - Menelik's last summer vacation before leaving for NYC to go to college and start his career as a filmmaker. Over this tumultuous summer vacation, Menelik will have to navigate family drama, court mandated therapy sessions, and a burgeoning relationship with his white passing, biracial childhood friend, Christian - all while still being in the closet.
