Twice Bitten

A parallel and contemporary Earth. Almost like ours. Except for one main difference: the paranormal is as real. Monster hunter and nearly two-centuries-old vampire Elizabeth Ora Reed is fighting a hellish virus bent on turning her into a zombie. Will she succeed and finally rest in peace on her terms?

Trigger Warnings and Content Warnings:

Intolerance and prejudice: In context, the bulk of the prejudice is historically accurate. The story in question takes place in an alternate Earth but it's timeline shares the same history of slavery with our world.

Profanity: The story is about 4000 words. "F***" (or a variation of it) appears 5 times. "Sh**" 3 times. "He**" 3 times. "B****" once, and "B*****d" once. "A**" also appears once.

Extreme violence: As in keeping with genre conventions, it gets pretty bloody at times. Nothing beyond what is shown on basic cable programs like AMC's The Walking Dead, however.

Exploitation of minors: This is also presented in context and that context is a girl (and runaway slave) surrounded by a group of drunken men. The rape does not occur, but this scene is critical to the character's development.
