An immortal nightmare fated to watch on in wide-eyed silence as time slipped by until Archaeologist Dominic Miller dug her out. Now in present day Detroit, Michigan, Merit desperately tries to break away from a haunting past filled with greed, death, and ambition while searching to create her own identity, but when the goddess Sekhmet suddenly makes an appearance with an ultimatum she could never hope to refuse, Merit finds herself thrown back into the snake pit. ** Complete - EDITING** In a kingdom where magic is forbidden, Selene serves as the King's Assassin, bound to his every command. Though, she has no memory of who she truly is -- only the name the King has told her. In the crowded, suffocating city, she struggles to think clearly, to remember something. But remembering is dangerous; it could make the King angry. And angering the King something she dares not risk. Yet, when Selene begins dreaming of a mysterious man with amber eyes, fragments of her memories begin to return. As her past slowly pieces itself together, she faces the question -- will learning the truth of who she is give her the strength to claim her freedom, or will it spell doom for herself and the kingdom she has come to call home?
