The hanahaki disease is a fictional diseasewhere the victim has an unrequited love.
The victim coughs up flower petals the color of the other person's favorite color.
It can be fatal.
It can kill you.
The only two ways to remove it are for the love to be returned, or surgery.
The surgery removes all feelings the victim had.
At first it's just petals. This stage won't kill you.
The next stage is coughing up handfuls and handfuls of petals at once, with the frequent appearance of whole flowers.
Finally the color of the petals changes to a bloody red, and thorns start to spread within your body.
The disease is extremely fatal at this point and can only be removed by a returnal of feelings.

Surprisingly, Wen Junhui of Seventeen is rumoured to be diagnosed with the disease and not so surprisingly, the rumours are true. Junhui does indeed cough up the blue primrose petals from time to time, Joshua's favourite kind. They suddenly stop by the time he had started coughing up the individual petals of 3-4 Primroses. Junhui is happy, with himself and his beloved who seems inclined to stay by his side. One unfortunate night and they are back again. Way more vigilant in their stance this time.
