It's been nine months since escaping the Deepsea Metro, defeating tar-tar, and saving Inkoplois things seemed to have finally calmed down for the team. Agent 8 now free is now living his new life on the surface, working, going on missions, and his favorite thing getting to spend time with 3. 3 is enjoying spending time with 8, but after going on a research mission in the Deepsea Metro she notices 8 acting strange. She found him mumbling to himself, he's having nightmares, being more claggy to 3 than normal, and swears that she caught a flash of teal in his eye. It couldn't be that bad... till 8 goes missing. The team is on the case to find him but sometime into the search Inklings sharing some of 3's similarities are getting attacked and 3's apartment gets ransacked. It's clear 8 is after 3 and if he finds her, he's not letting her go.
