-Donald "Donnie" Roman is a passionate artist, composer and drummer a band called "Memento Mori", an alternative rock band. The story takes place in the mid 1990's, when well known bands like "Nine Inch Nails", "Nirvana" and "The Smashing Pumpkins" were at the height of their glory. Memento Mori is an alternative rock band that Donnie decides to form with his friends for a local talent show, in his hometown of Trenton, New Jersey. They end up getting signed to an independent record label, and slowly start to thrive on their own. What their newfound fans don't know, is the fact that Donnie has been writing these songs all along. Donnie's friendship with the boys becomes toxic, as they do not want to credit Donnie for his work. One day, Donnie meets a girl named Sarah, the guitar player for a local punk band called "Literary Misconception" who he slowly starts to form an unlikely friendship with. She helps him come out of his shell and helps him expose the other members of "Memento Mori".
