Kayla is a 13 year old Mexican girl. Her father, Jeremiah, beats her mother on a regular basis. When Jeremiah decides to give Kayla's mother another beating, she decides stand up to Jeremiah, once and for all.

A few days later, Kayla goes to school, looking like she was in a car accident. She's been bullied by everyone and the new look, isn't exactly helping. The boy she loved since Preschool decides to help her. Will she have a better life with her mother? Or will she stumble upon her father once more?
