Richard Steel was a misunderstood man who spent his life catching murderers, falling over, and avoiding all kinds of women to the best of his ability. He was awkward, clumsy and uptight – hard to get along with, apparently. He simply didn’t understand people, and people didn’t understand him.
Clare Brent was Richard's complete opposite - a confident, cheerful, and extremely giggly woman creature. She was up for taking risks, breaking rules and just being a little bit naughty.
Usually, this kind of woman would be Richard’s worst nightmare – but Clare was different. She seemed to understand Richard and his rather strange ways, and didn’t bully him about it like everyone else.
Richard finds himself spending all of his time with this strange woman creature, slowly learning how to be normal, whilst doing things he’d never do before.
He smiles, cuddles… and investigates a murder case behind his boss’ back. Oops.
Together, they stumble into all kinds of mischief.
After a brutal mugging leaves him with a fractured skull, insurance investigator Jeff Resnick reluctantly agrees to recover at the home of his estranged half brother, Richard. At first, Jeff believes his graphic nightmares of murder are just the workings of his traumatized mind. But when a local banker is found dead, Jeff believes the attack has left him with the ability to see murder before it happens.
