It has been twenty long years since Kujito was last seen. Many wonder if he will ever raise his head out of the ocean depths again. Some fear that he may be coming to show humanity the cost of their sins once more, while others pray he never shows his scaly self again. Miyuki is now a grandmother and lives in Hawaii, where she has a life with Kojima. Her son is a proud naval officer working for a special forces unit in the US Navy tasked with dealing with kaiju and has been stationed in the Pacific for the past two years searching for Kujito. Their lives are about to heat up as a volcano begins to boil, mysterious phenomena begins to happen in the forests, and strange attacks happen off the coast.
