Val Zipher, 15 years old, a Native American Ojibwe/Sioux boy, walks a path few mortals ever tread. As a Spirit Warrior, Val exists between worlds-cleansing restless souls and guiding them to their final destination: Heaven, Hell, or the Spirit Realm.

But one fateful encounter shatters everything he believes.

Mistaking a monstrous presence for a lost spirit, Val engages it without hesitation-only to learn, far too late, that it is something else entirely. Not a spirit. Not bound by the rules of death.

The battle ends in failure.
