Five years ago, the United States changed forever. We've been alienated by the other countries who used to be our allies. We've been at war with all of them for a year. They worked together to create a chemical that they called contagion 1. They airdropped the toxic plague by plane over the U.S. Most of us were able to get away from the fumes. And those who didn't... they've become lifeless but still walk to earth with us. They hunger for our flesh and to turn us into what they are. We call them many things, undead, stalkers, demons, bastards. Dead. This incident has changed the world as we know it and the people in it. Avery Hunter used to be a bullied, nerdy high school student. Now she scavenges the city for what's left, just trying to survive. Sometimes surviving means making sacrifices for the greater good. Emmaline Bates was a stereotypical cheerleader who bullied Avery in high school. What happens when these two meet again after five years of violence and suffering? Will they be able to put the past behind them and learn to not only fight together but to not fight the feelings they're starting to have for each other?
